I stopped at local paint supplier for more primer. They were out wouldn't have any for two days. But had this water based stuff. $32 gal. Says for metal, drying time 70 hrs. I needed to get job done. Now waiting three days for primer to dry cure. I'm gonna try putting enamel whatever paint ( the kind that reduces with regular thinner) on after the water colors set up. Anyone else have experience with this water based stuff? bjr

Typical for me. The instructions said 70 degrees, not 70 hours. I know, I'm the idiot that makes everyone else look good. Now that's out of the way. The primer dried and the enamel went on just fine. bjr

NO...But sounds like you got a mess-a-brewin'. Used a water born sealer called Barrier Coat back in the late '70s to seal down original "crazed" acrylic laquer so as not to have to strip it before repainting. Worked great, set it in hot sun for a day, sanded, then went on with regular products on top and it never "melted down" even when using acrylic laquer over it. Doesn't sound like something you want in the mix on your project. May consider starting over? Don't know how fussy a project it is. Good Luck.
