I an looking for a primer /paint for my NH3 tank. It appears to have been galvonised at one time. There is some rust on the tank in places. I have completely removed all the paint by power wire brush/sanding disc, being carefull not to nick or gouge the tank as to weaken it. the tank is lightly pitted in places I'm thinking maybe I should use a primer that would turn the rust black? should I use a epoxy paint? any sugestions? The tank is 500.Gal / #1000 on a applicator rig (1/2 size of a standard nurse tank)
thanks in advance.Geo.

Anhydrous tanks have a wall thickness of about 3/8 inch, so surface rust and pitting should not be a risk to the integrity of the tank.

I sandblast the tank first. If thats risky you might want to get rid of the tank. Then i use DuPonts 25P epoxy red primmer then 25P clay enamel then 333Imron white.Put 1 gal.of each to a 1000 gal tank. This paint system will out last any other.I've painted 40 or 50 over the last 5 years and all still look like new.N-serve dosen't seem to be hard on them. This is how I do it but yes use epoxy all the way.
