I've decided to restore my dodge pickup rather than buy a new one. Does anyone know of a QUALITY body shop, preferably in central Oh. that is good with restoring vehicles that have rust? I want to do it right so I don't want cheap.

If you want it done right, your best bet is to find someone who does street rods. There are guys who do it as a sideline business, and usually are the best for making/replacing panels. There are probably a bunch of these guys in the Cincinatti or Columbas areas. Ohio is a HUGE Street Rod state.

I couldn"t dissagree more with some of the opinions so far. I"ve been doing restoration for a long time. Products today are far superior to those on most old vehicles. I"m not sure what year we are talking about, but if you remove all the rust and properly seal the metal, you"ll be good for a long time. There are additional steps you can take to seal things to prevent some of the original rust problems too. No, if done right, it can last.

Very few bodyman like to do rust work. And the trouble with rust is once it starts you can't stop it. The best thing is to oil spray your vechical and try to slow it down and prevent it before it gets bad.

Speaking from 35 yrs of profesional body/paint. It don't matter how good they are, they will NOT guarantee rust work. The only guarantee you will get on rust work is the guarantee that it WILL be back, somewhere on your vehicle in a year or two. Outside body panels, you may as well replace them,it's cheaper than patching and will last if you undercoat them. Replace everything you can and patch the rest and prey.A favorite ole saying that pretty well sums it up is "A GOOD BODY MAN COULD FIX THAT... A SMART BODY MAN WOULD REPLACE IT!" Rust repair is a crap shoot at best, and a trip to small claims court and dammaged reputation at the least. If you are looking for a top notch shop that will weld in patches all over your vehicle, and guarantee the vehicle against rust,YOU WON'T FIND ANY. This probably isn't what you wanted to hear,I'm sorry but it is the sad truth about rust and it's repair.

I had figured on replacing the front fenders and doors, the bed really only has one spot that is bad. I just want someone who has experience dealing with rust as opposed to a shop that deals primarily with collision repair. I would like to have this truck last another 10 years and if I get it done right I think it will as it is no longer my drive to work vehicle. The paint will have to be taken off as it is delaminating, so I guess someone who does restoration work would be best?
