My dad and I are restoring a late 51 styled model A tractor. We have come to the point when we need to paint the engine and other parts that get "hot". (too hot for normal paint). Do any of you have recomendations on what steps we should take to prevent the manifold, exhaust pipe and other parts from turning that black color after awhile? Or is that normal? Thanks Jake

I have used Barbque grill paint from Walmart. 4 to 5 coats works good.

You can buy high temperature paint. Don't know about Deere but most manufacturers used the same paint as the rest of the tractor and let it burn off the manifold and exhaust. To me, that's the way they are supposed to be. The normal paint will not burn off the engine, it does not get hot enough.
