Any idea how long it takes for an oil base enamel to be fully cured? Would it be more than a week?

In an earlier post I had asked if I could paint over an existing paint using a hardner. I was told that generally it was ok to do this if the existing paint was fully cured.

I know that there are a lot of variables, ie temp humidity etc. Temps are between 70 and 50 degrees with a humidity of less than 50%.

Far as I'm concerned even hardened paint doesn't fully cure within a week. Found that out when my funnel slipped and spilled gas on month old, maybe longer hardened paint. As B said unhardened takes a LONG time. Faster to strip it and use hardened from the beginning.

Minimum of 6 mos. I would give it a year to be safe. If you want, try a spot in an inconspicious place or part and see what it does. Make sure and spray it on wet and the same amount of coats as you would doing the whole tractor. Economy can be expensive!
