Can anyone give me advise on how to remove some major dents in the gas tank. Also after removing lots of floor pan and fender bolts finding most were fine thread, is there a reason for this other than IH just got a good deal on cheap bolts? This is my first restoration on a tractor and I need all the help I can get as to parts, service manuals etc.I would like for this project to be as near as possible as the factory would have done it.

if you know a local body shop they can use a stud welder to pull them out, it spot welds a wire to the dent, then you use a puller to work the dent out. you can also try to solder some large head nails in the dent and then use vise grips to pull the dent out. the other method i have used is to bend some 5/8 round stock kind of like an "S" grind the end into a semi circle, the go in thru the gas hole and tap the dent out from the inside. clean the tank good first to get all the vapor out too.

Fine thread bolts hold better but you will find that in the cast metal course threads were used. Course threads are suppose to hold better in cast metal than the fine threads.

Most parts are available from Case-IH and many other vendors. Get the factory Operator's, Parts and Service manuals from Binder Books, add the www and .com as they are direct competitors to the manuals sold on this site, which are of lower quality --503-684-2024. Much more on the Farmall forum on this site. Pay particular attention to Gene Bender, he has several B's and A's.

buddy of va sorry my e-mail would not accept you its very touchy with virus, spams etc. and with certain e-mail addresses that are not in my address book. As to the fine threads yes I know about strength but these were just bolts and nuts combination where strength should not be of a major concern. It sure would be nice to get some research material that you did'nt have to spent an arm and a leg for it but i guess thats life.
