What is the best way to get paint to stick to zinc plated bolts?

Pickle them in acid.

Prime them with zinc chromate primer first--when that is dry, you can prime with laquer primer, but not necessary.

I have a couple of pieces of board with many various size holes drilled in them and stick the bolts in them, sand blast them and paint them while in the same boards. I use these over and over again. Dean

have blasted them in a cainet,prior to cabinet used wire wheel,you just need to scruff them up a bit,then I shove them in a sheet of cardboard,hang them & paint them.
