I know from past posts that the Tractor supply paint [BPS] is low quality, But I see they now are carrying a Valspar line of paint. Doe's anyone have any experiance with this paint? I seem to recall the valspar name from years ago. It is about $20 more a gallon than the BPS. Thanks Dave

I just did a google search for Valspar paint, guess what , they make the BPS brand and just changed the label to Valspar. Now they can charge $20 more per gallon for the same paint! Gotta love marketing. Dave

With the "off" brands (yes I know Valspar makes acrylic enamel and urethanes), look and see what the paint is, rather than the brand, which can be meaningless. Alkyd enamel is the lowest grade, acrylic modified alkyd enamel is a step up and better than straight alkyd as it has UV inhibitos to retard fading, acrylic enamel will be better than acrylic modified alkyd, it will last longer; urethane is the best. PPG/DuPont/Sherwin Williams (SW is the same as Martin Senour and the NAPA brand, I believe) are the name brands and are higher quality than Valspar. That does not mean you shouldn't use Valspar, as long as it is something other than straight alkyd enamel. But, quality paint costs money, it is worth it in the long run.

Valspar makes many levels of paint quality wise including OEM paint for several well known Ag. manufacturers. The BPS is pretty sad.

My opinion is that it is the exact same stuff,re-named because the sales of BPS was falling off (for obvious reasons) so now we will put our "real" name on it and people are bound to believe it's better and sales will pick up and the cycle will start (and end) all over again. It's all about price, not quallity. They will sell a lot of paint before they have to "change" again.

A quick check on the can should determine it's chemical makeup. I sure wouldn't want to pay 46$ per gallon for alkyd enamil that was availbale at 26$.
