Any pointers on using filler primer? Been using epoxy primer then acrylic urethane paint. Need a filler primer to level before paint. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

In addition to what CNKS said, Other surfacing primers - I call them filler primers, are PPG K36 and RM DP20. Both are urethane filler primers. I prefer to sand them with 320 grit. Not much different from 400 grit, just slightly faster. After filler primer blocking, I apply an epoxy sealer primer coat and then the acrylic urethane paint. This will hide/fill 320 or 400 sanding scratches. The Epoxy or paint will not hide 180 or 150 sanding scratches, which is what should be used on the filler work or previous layers of filler primer before the final coats and sanding with 320/400. I use 3M gold 6 inch sanding disks which is why I am using 320.

Who makes your paint?--Use a surfacer from the same manufacturer that supplies your epoxy and topcoat. Spray 2 or 3 coats, dry, sand with 400 and repeat if necessary. Since you are using acrylic urethane use a urethane surfacer, that is one that uses hardener. An example in PPG's Omni line is MP 182. Unhardened surfacers, also called lacquer surfacers or primer surfacers will sometimes bridge sanding scratches and sink into them after the topcoat has been applied.
