Well, Christmas came a little early to Indiana.I just got my new hood, grill, battery box and lid, and seat for the little Farmall A. The stuff looks as heavy or heavier metal than original. My question is this, I want to protect the inside of the battery box and lid from the effects of the battery. Has anyone sprayed or brushed Herculiner on the inside of new sheet metal? Just wonder if it would help. Thanks
Tom

There is a coating available from Eastwoodco.com that you could use. Proper prep is key. Removal of all rust 100 percent and sealing in Epoxy sealer primer like PPG DPLF, Keystone brand, or Dupont. Paint and then consider the coating. Another alternative is to use an Optima battery. These are newer technology Gel cell batteries that do not have liquid battery acid, do not corrode on the terminal, do not outgas like conventional batteries and will not rust your battery tray. These batteries are more reliable than conventional. Off roaders and racers use them. I own 5 of them and as I need to replace any other batteries I replace them with Optimas. They are available at Pepboys(12V for $109). 6V versions are available online. I bought one through a seller called Milwaukee battery out of Milwaukee. Oh and these batteries are totally shipable because they have no liquid. Sure they cost a little more than the El Cheapo autozone battery, but all the features they have are worth it in my book. I also had some insight to these batteries before they became popular in the marketplace. In college I was in charge of the Solar Vehicle team, and we had these batteries donated from Optima. We would discharge them and recharge them many times and they worked well.

Havn't done it,but can't see why it wouldn't work just fine. I think I would clean the metal and give it a coat of epoxy primer first and then the Hurculiner. Brush it as smooth as you can and then after cured, paint over it with the red too.

Randolph Paints makes a black acid proof battery box paint. You can get it at most general aviation parts stores or they can get it for you.
Under the products link, go to special products and it is listed there.
