I am going to repaint my dads 3020. I do not want to sand blast anything more than the rims. My question is how do you guys prep the original paint. Good hot power washing to remove oil and grease than what. Do you guys scuff everything or do you hit it with reducer right before the paint. I am mainly wondering about the engine and rearend areas. Thanks for any advice.

I remove the paint. But, to answer your question, pressure wash (as many times as necessary, scrape in between) scuff or sand throughly, wash off the residue and then use a wax and grease remover such as PPG DX330 until the rags come clean, then use a tack rag. Many people just wash and paint -- they risk poor paint adhesion when they do that. Put epoxy primer over the old finish. Remember that there is a 99% chance that there is rust under the old paint.
