I need the correct colors for 1800 Oliver Diesel. I understand they are clover white and meadow green. Can someone please get me the correct paint codes so that I can have some mixed up?

Thanks in advance!

Sam

Yes, I saw the link earlier. How do I know which shade of Clover White to get and which shade of Oliver Green? It lists two colors for the white and three for the green if I remember correctly...

As Rod said it's a common problem. For example in the case of IH there were 4 reds over the years for the older tractors. I know the IH codes for those, but I do not know which aftermarket major paint manufacturer, ie PPG, DuPont, Sherwin Williams/Martin Senour/NAPA, comes closest to those codes. In the end it is what satisfies you, as I truly believe that the old shades have gotten lost somewhere, there are simply too many variations. As Rod says take that list as a starting point and there will be someone on the Oliver forum who can make at least an educated guess. You will very likely not be able to exactly duplicate the old color. You can also have your supplier change the toners until you get a color that is closest to your perception of what the color should be. I have done that.

Hi Sam,

Read my preface to the list. When there is more than one code listed against a common-name color, there are a couple of possibilities. For one, the original manufacturer may have used more than one shade of the same color over the years. For the most part, years/models are not indicated in the list. Another reason could be that not all the listed codes are still valid numbers. That list is a compilation of three different lists published quite a few years apart. It may be that some codes have been superceded and replaced by later numbers, or dropped altogether. They could all show up in the list simply because of the means used to assemble it. Take the list as a starting point. Find out if each of the codes are still available from your local PPG jobber. If they all are still available you may have to sample each of them to arrive at the shade you are looking for - if you know visually what that is. It's not a simple task, especially if you are particular about it. That's unfortunate, however it's what I had to do with my AC. I was lucky that there were only two listed possibilities that I had to sample. After buying a sample of each, it was very easy to select the one that was "most correct" based on remnants of old remaining paint. Another way to proceed is to ask on the Oliver forum here at this site and elsewhere on the net relative to Oliver tractors. There is probably some other Oliver enthusiast who has been down the same path with PPG colors that could provide an opinion to help narrow your choices down. That way didn't help me because I found conflicting opinions - but maybe it could help you. Good luck.
