A few months ago I painted my 49 Super A with an enamel paint. The results were good but Im thinking about spraying all the sheet metal with a better paint. What would be involved in respraying with PPG urethane other than standard cleaning of all parts ? I have not used any wax or other cleaners on this sheetmetal since I installed it back onto the tractor.

Any thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

You say the results were good so I'm assuming you are happy with the looks but want the longevity of the urethane?? If it looks good , I would leave it alone until such time that it ages to a point that it doesn't look good , then paint it over. Unless you used a catylist in the enamel , I would give it one good summer in the sun anyway , before painting it with urethane. Assuming you don't need to "fix" anything , I would just sand it with 600 wet and scotchbrite (in the hard to get places) spray a coat of epoxy primer (catylized and non-sanding) and then give it one day cure before painting. Make sure your epoxy and top-coat and catylists are from same brand lines. LOL
