I just finished painting my JD70 with a hvlp gun. Everything was going great until the second coat. I got 3 or 4 runs in the paint. Now I am thinking of taping everything off and resanding and respraying the lp tank. Unless I can figure out how to do a touch up and blend the paint edges together.

What's the trick?
Thanks
Bob

If you have a good quality hard paint, you can cut the runs out with a razor blade and then rub them out with rubbing compound.

Unless you have Frank's experience, just sand out the runs, scuff the whole thing and repaint.

you can blend an area but recognize the thin edges of the blend will fail, when is a matter of UV exposure, the more exposure the quicker the deterioration.
If you do the blend sand out run and final sand with 600
prep the area around it with a gold scotch brite paint area as normal
immediately take soe of the same solvent used in paint and with low air pressure and very light coats mist the edges with the solvent to melt in

I think I will resand the LP tank and just repaint it.

Very involved process. Even some auto painters can't master the method. Matching and blending are what separates the cream from the whey. One more precaution when you sand out the run. Don't just sand it flat , sand it OUT. If you don't , you will still see a "worm" where the run was even after you re-paint it. Just paint the whole tank , it will be faster.Good Luck.
