I posted this message a couple hours ago but dont see it on so will try again. I called a John Deere dealer today about classic john deere green. He said it was acrylic enamel but the price was only $45 a gallon which is about half the price of other places. Wondering if he is mistaken and and its possibly the cheaper alkyd enamel. Any info be appreciated
Thank You

Thanks B-maniac, CNKS and Mike for the info. I'm going for the better paint from PPG or Dupont. Just gotta have a better grade than alkyd.

The JD dealer paint is synthetic enamel not acrylic, caseIH paint is alkyd

If it is acrylic enamel, the price of tractor dealer paint would be twice the cost of other acrylic enamel, not half.

Thank you B-maniac, what i had in mind with my 1929 john deere is priming with zero rust because its very rusty and then painting with acrylic enamel

Might pay to go look at the can yourself , but unless they have come out with a "new' classic green just recently , then you are correct about what it really is.
