Has any one bought and used one of the Supplied Air respirator systems currently listed on E-Bay with prices from 329 to 389 bucks? Would you recommend one of these for slightly more than occasional use in a home shop? Which hood would you go with?

Hi Bill,
I'll chime in. If you're talking about one of the Breathe-Cool respirators, I bought one last year. I bought mine with the full hood and orange helmet. I'm absolutely not an expert, but I've been lurking on this forum for several years learning from the masters here. I've painted a few small things, but this last year after getting my respirator, I decided to have my tractor hauling trailer sandblasted. I then proceeded to paint it using the PPG Omni system that is so often talked about here. The result was amazing; I'm very pleased and planning a number of new paint jobs. My blast guy used a crane and flipped my trailer over to blast the underside, but I couldn't do that while painting. Thus, I was forced to crawl / creeper-around underneath the trailer with my respirator / hood on and paint the underside. With the exception of a couple of cuts on the smaller flex hose that goes to the hood (I ordered a 50ft hose with my hood), it performed well--never a scent of paint or chemicals and no associated headaches. I painted under a lean-to on the side of my barn, and the respirator pump was inside my barn and up-wind from me. The air from the pump never gets warm--its always cool (which I appreciate very much living in Texas).
Good luck, Stephen
