If you want to do a good job sand blasting use a glass type of sand. If you want to blast the whole tractor use glass beeds, they cost more but well worth the money. If you just want to stripe the paint on the tractor use a high quality industrial striper, oven cleaner works but you have to let it sit a little longer than a good striper and may require several times of coating. Even if you don't want a showroom finish your better off to do it right the first time.

Hi Steve,

My recommendation is to only sandblast those items that you remove from the tractor proper, such as fenders, grill work, gas tank, etc. The grit will get everywhere and it is extremely difficult to avoid getting some where it could cause damage later on if you blast the block, transmission and axle housings, etc. Some people sandblast everything but my past experience tells me to avoid it where I don't TOTALLY disassemble the parts. Besides, the cast parts are better handled with chemical paint strippers and wire brushing, in my opinion. I am told oven cleaner works good for this but I have never tried it.
