I feel wrong not asking a question about painting a tractor, but here goes:
I've been helping a fella tear off vinyl siding that faded and is being replaced as part of the warranty--I have a "boat load" and was wondering about using it to wrap some of my small poultry barns, then painting it. It is faded grey and would like to prime and paint white. I know this stuff moves bigtime with temperature changes and was wondering if anyone had done this SUCCESFULLY and if so, what products were used. Thanks in advance. I will use my airless-and will back brush if necessary--hoping to not have to. The current boards have so many coats and peeling that I really don't want to just paint the boards.
Many thanks. Mark

Major paint companies have paint approved for vinyl siding,i.e. Sherwin-Williams, Ben Moore. I have painted vinyl siding without any problems. All you need to do is power Wash and paint- no primer is needed. Only recommendation from paint companies is that you do not use a darker color over a lighter color vinyl due to expansion concerns.

the primer is expensive and all chalk would need to be removed. Makes sense for windows and trim but not siding.

Most of these plastic type materials can be painted if you use a plastic primer such as PPG DPX 801. This will require quite a bit of it though and you'll have to check on cost or maybe a cheaper equivalent. Test a spot first and make sure it is going to stick. The most important thing is to clean it well with a solvent based cleaner.
