was over at the local farm store, they carry the majic brand of soybean oil based alkyd enamel. workin on this 301a deere, tractor is pretty rough, its used by a landscaper, so i picked up a quart of paint, hardener and reducer, figure i'll give it a try, paint is only 8.00 a quart, i'll let you's know how it turns out. i dont want to put diamont base coat/clear on this one.

I think painting with a less expensive paint is ok if you are going to be working with it alot. If you have to touch it up, it easier and less expensive. I bet if you chip it, it would chip with the expensive paint too. I painted a street legal stock car I had with Farm store IH red paint and white Rustolum on the top. Drove it for 3 years then sold it. It was easy to repair and not expensive to paint. I would do it again in an instant.

Im using the same paint on my disk, I never used it before. So far it looks really good but Im wondering if its going to fade.

i figured for the price and considering this tractor is gonna be rode hard and put away wet, at least it will keep the rust off, its not a restoration, and according to the label, its made fromm 100% US grown soybeans. maybe if i use enough, beans will hit 12.00 a bushel!!!!! !!!!
