I have warped sheet metal with a 90 psi cheap chinese sandblaster -- not a good idea. You can sand it off or get a 3M, etc fiber wheel for an electric drill. Slow but it works. You then use epoxy primer followed by a surfacer. The fiber wheel is quite aggressive, the surfacer will fill the scratches.

Sandblasting works but can warp thin steel. Light rust should be sanded then acid etched. Milking equipment acid rinse (posphoric acid)is a cheap alternative to the autobody stuff. Drape paper towel over the rust, soak it with the acid, wait, rinse with water and scuff.

Does this stop the rust. This is new to me but I am willing to give it a try. I have a sand blaster but I haven"t used much. Thanks for the info. I would like to know if the 8n fenders will work on ford 600. I am re working a 600 and I would like it back as near original as possible. Gil

Etching leaves no protection. At least the way I use it. Rinsing it off prior to drying.

Use paper towel only if its really rusty. Etching will remove the rust from the pits and pores but leaves no protection. After water rinse the whole piece will have a haze of rust that's easily scuffed off with sandpaper or scotch bright pad. It will rust fast so coat it with something.
