The front crank hole on my W-6 is eaten away on the bottom,
Can I use body putty, or a filler to fill the crack,s in on bottom of hole?
I think the metal was rotted away from exposure
on the bottom of hole on the flat face part of hole under the grille.

Yes, if never used to start. There are higher quality fillers that use aluminum or polyester gel as thickener. Just as easy to use but tougher and less prone to pop off from rust.

as long as it isnt a structural repair and just cosmetic, you may want to try some jb weld two part epoxy. clean the area up real good, degrease it and then form the jb weld to the shape you need. it will hold up a lot better than ody filler, you can file and shae the jb weld after it hardens and it is paintable. f you do use the crank, it will hold up a lot better than body filler if the crank rubs on it.
