has anyone ever used dry ice to remove small "pings" in a vehicle? just thought it may work by shrinking the metal from the cold. don"t know if the cold will hurt the paint or not. tell me what y"all think.

I have seen hail dents disappear after several years of sun and snow. Not to practical but possible. Try it and let us know.

Dry ice doesn't work. I do paintless dent repair at my auto collision shop and none of it is done with dry ice. Tractor metal even in the last fifteen years is still heavier I think than most automotive metal. That can be good though for working it because it doesn't stretch as easy.

I have never seen anything that will "shrink" any size dent or ping out of sheetmetal. If it is less than 15 years old , the sheetmetal will be thinner but more brittle and therefore stronger until it is bent or dented. It's harder to "work' than the old cars metal was. There's no such thing as "bonking out" of a dent anymore , so you cant tell it. I'm sure you have seen the little suction/glue pullers they advertise on TV , that just pull those dents right out and save you hundreds. Don't fall for it.
