I've never used a spray gun before and want to paint a work tractor. thought if I used a brush with oil base paint it wouldnt have to many brush lines. Has anyone else tried this if so what kind of paint did you use?

I was just reading the Dupont information and they make an additive to allow brushing with out strokes showing. Check with a paint and body supply shop.

I've used the brush alot with JD green and yellow right out of the can. Works best on cast iron , but did some sheetmetal and it didn't look too bad ? You can get really good results with natural bristle brushes the ones artists use are good. I think I had some with sable hair ? and it worked good to paint yellow on the fan blades. Sometimes you can use the brush and then go over it with a rattle can to help smooth it all out.

Several years ago, i bought a 91 Ford Ranger pickup, for $500! It ran perfectly, with 171,000 miles on it, so i ran it in my business! But--the bed had been worked over by some goof, primed, and never painted! So, not wanting to spend a pile of money on painting the bed, i went to the hardware store, bought some of those foam type brushes, and a quart of Rust-o-leum paint, in maroon, and which almost matched the color on the truck! And now, a year later, it has faded in to match the original color, and still looks good! Now, this treatise comes from an old auto painter, who sprayed cars and trucks for 40 years, in various auto body shops! Being that spraying auto paints now makes me wheeze, or even being in the vicinity, i have had to resort to brushing instead of spraying it!
