I just used some Kleanstrip aersol rust converter and it seemed to have worked better than anything else I've tried short of electrolysis. Goes on clear with two to three coats and within a few minutes the rust is completely black. Any of you guys had any experience with it? I'm wondering if products like Kleanstrip, Ospho and so on are permanent repairs.

I've used POR 15 on my Ford 850. It provides a good sealant over the metal and is tough. It can be painted over after being primed with their "Tie-Coat" primer which is supposed to promote adhesion for other paints.

Permanent? I do not know. My own personal opinion is that I don't trust rust converters, and prefer to prime and paint bare metal. Then it is as permanent as the epoxy primer and topcoat is that I usually use. Not saying it will or will not last for years, only my opinion.
