Hi,

I've never done it but I doubt you'd have a problem. It may even be recommended by the manufacturer if it's a Crossfire synthetic topcoat. Check the appropriate technical data sheets for your Crossfire products here. Don't forget that if it's the acrylic primer-surfacer, it's intended to be sanded. In fact, sanding is needed for best adhesion and appearance of the topcoat.

Correct im using it to smooth out the cast iron been sanding every coat i put on. Im using john deere dealer synthetic ,we find it easier to spray and it lasts just fine for us since our tractors rarely see the sun .

Agree with Rod on the compatability issue. My fear is that if the primer you are using is air dry as apposed to catylized , you may have a durability issue long term. Especially with the amount of film build you must be dealing with to smooth cast parts. Thick builds of un-catylized surfacer are not very durable. I don't use "crossfire" so I don't know if it is catylized or not. If it is then disreguard. Air dry acrylic primer is very brittle and will "shatter" in time. The thicker it is the worse it does it.
