I would like to know what paint is the best when restoring a JD R? Please any input on the paint brand and color code would be helpful. I would like to also get that wet look when finished. Thanks

you can ask 10 different people and get 10 different oppions i would first goto a show and look at the tractors with a paintjob like you want and at all possible ask the owners what they used. in my oppion i like dupondt nason epoxy primer with dupondt nason urethane paint the yellow is #262 green is #263

BEST--primer-PPG or Omni epoxy/catylist. BEST--paint-PPG Base coat/clear coat Deltron System consisting of deltron base coat-code 43817 classic JD green and PPG DCC 3000 or DCC 4000 acrylic urethane clear coat with catylist to suit your temp. and conditions. Definately not cheap but the fact that you are restoring an "R" tells me no part of it is gonna be cheap. Been painting since 1972 , using PPG since 1985 and in my opinion this is the BEST , and that IS what you asked for. Do you NEED the best???? Only you can answer that. I'm not on here to coach or judge. As you can see by the lack of posts to your question , it's kind of a loaded question that most will avoid.(many opinions)

Oops1 Just looked back a few pages in JD forum and saw you had quite a few answers. Explains why none on this forum. Good luck with whatever you use. Stay with a complete "system".
