Hi, I have a gravity grain wagon that I plan to paint. I will use TSC paint and also TSC primer.

I have a few questions...
It has 10 foot long sides that are 8 feet tall..how should they be painted, to ensure good pattern?

This is my first attept, I will purchase a HVLP air gun with a 1.4 or 1.7 mm tip?

I am reading different information from different paint cans...how soon can I recoat?
It says within 2 hours or wait 48 hours...

How many coats of each paint? DO you give a light coat twice? Then dry for a few hours then give the topcoat or do I have to wait a few days before the topcoat?

Can I do the primer on Saturday AM and then the final topcoat on Sunday AM?A gallon of paint says it covers 400 sq feet...the wagon sides combined are 400 sq feet...

Anything else I should know?
Sorry for the stupidity..

Thanks!

didnt see anybody respond yet so i'll take a whack at it for you. your are gonna need some kind of scaffold to stand on, maybe two ladders with a plank between em or something along that line. regarding gun tip, go with the bigger tip, the alkyd is a heavy bodied paint, you dont thin more than 10%. do you edgework first. paint arond all your gate work, ladders and any channels, lite coat to cover. then go over the wagon with a tack coat first, you need to get a light coat on first. use the valspar hardener if you can. shoot the first coat, depending on the outside temp and humidity, you can second coat in the two hour window. put the second coat on heavy, but dont run it. usually you can get a way with two coats, you final coat needs to be wet so you get a decent shine. assuming you have prepped the wagon already, sanding, wirebrushing ect, before you shoot the paint or primer, wipe the wagon down with mineral spirits on a rag. wear rubber gloves, dunk the rag in the spirits and scrub the metal surface to get any oil or grease off the wagon. after the spirits flash off, generally 20 minutes or so you can start spraying.
