Your typical buying your choice auction. I won the bid at $12 and took a 3/4 gal. of MP170 primer and a box of goodies. The box had two cans of MP175 catalyst which I assume goes with the primer. What are these for?
DuPont Nasan Select Prime 483-53
Centari Arcylic Enamel Hardener (compatiable with 2150?)
B9473 KH ALT D (3 partial quart cans)
Is DuPont Prep Solve 3919S used the same as for DX 330?
How do I dispose of what I don't need or want?

I also got a single stage PTO driven Muncie Hyraulic Unit for a big truck for $10. Owner said I can get $500 for it easy. LOL???

Hi SDE,

The 3919S is a little stronger than the DX330 but probably can be used in place of it. See this article. Yes, the MP175 is used with the MP170. The 170 should be fine if well stirred and the 175 probably is OK also but that is not guaranteed. I have used the 170/175 combination where both products have been opened previously for as long as a couple of years with no apparent problem. But that's not normally recommended, at least for the catalyst. Most all hardeners will have a notice on the label to use within two weeks of opening. I have used hardeners, both DuPont and PPG ones, well over two years after opening with no apparent problem. That's definitely not recommended so the risk is yours if you choose it. Regarding use of a Centari hardener in the IH2150: mixing ingredients between different manufacturer's is not something I would risk doing. Centari is a true acrylic enamel and depending on the exact hardener used is classed as an acrylic urethane. As far as I know the IH 2150 is either an alkyd enamel or an "acrylic modified" alkyd enamel so there is also a basic difference between the 2150 and Centari chemistries. If I wanted to use the 2150 with a hardener, I'd get the correct hardener for it from a IH dealer. I am not familiar with the other products.

Thank you Rod. I made the mistake of seeing two words that both started with an A and thought they were the same, Alkyd and acrylic. Hopefully, I would have noticed my mistake when I got the cans next to one another.

The prep-sol may be the only thing still usable out of the products you list here. The others pretty much all have a shelf life and since you don't know how old they are or if they are any good at all , I sure wouldn't risk screwing up a paint job just to save a few $ with old products. You can't tell just by looking in the can either. The catylist can still be liquid but not do their job because of too long a shelf life and exposure to air. Are you a gambler? Better yet , how's your luck when you do gamble? My advise is to dump it. Could be very expensive to use it. Would you drink a beer that was caped up but was 1" lower than it should be?

One can of MP175 looks to have not been opened. The MP170 has been opened, by that should be o.k., Right?

I am a poor gambler.

Thanks Steve

The 170 is probably ok, as long as you can get it back in solution. The 175 may or may not be. 175 does not have a shelf life as such, and if it is clear it is probably ok. But, 175 is cheap, my advice is to buy a new can. The DuPont hardener has a shelf life, I would not risk it. The others I am not familiar with.

I have a utility trailer that I may try to waste some of this stuff on. It will not look any worst than it is now.

I wasn't sure which of those 2 was the cheap one.

Thank you SDE

As far as disposal, you can dump it in a lot of kitty litter or oil dry stuff, and put it in the landfill. But, I really didn't say that.
