Paint not curing

I used some older paint (TSC) in a rattlecan to paint a new starter button switch for the Farmall Super C and after 24 hours it is still very sticky. What gives? I figured it would be dry to touch in .5 hour. Granted the paint is a few years old but will it eventually dry?

The only time I have had probs like that is if I get the paint on to thick. Have used Van sickle and it usually is dry to touch in about 4 hrs. from a spray can.

If TSC happens to OEM its paint from Van Sickle then it takes a while. I have sprayed some of the Van Sickle enamel on a couple little projects and it dried very slow the primer even dried very slow.

Now it may be that TSC has someone else make their paint for them but you are having similar experience. The paint seems to do alright after it finally gets dry.

I have had the same problem with the same brand with and without a primer, I thought it probably was a bad batch of paint as tried a different brand it dried okay!!

Just an update, it is dry to the touch this evening but still not quite ready. I guess it will eventually harden up.

I'm not sure what area of the country you are in, but it has been so wet and humid the last couple weeks that it will take a few days for paint to dry. I'm painting an old John Deere 70 lawn mower for the fair, and it took the fiberglass hood the better part of the day just for the primer to dry.
