I am restoring my J.I.Case 22X36 threshing machine, I am going to repaint the galvanized sheet metal panels on it,the panels are in excellent shape. I have them very clean, all sanded, if i wipe them down with acetone before painting do I need to primer it or not?? Didn't want to primer unless I have to..Thanks for any and all help...Binder-Man

YOU BET!!! It it difficult to get paint to stick to galvanized metal....You will need to talk to the paint supplier as what primer they recommend ....in the past it took ,special primer..the primers today have improved...but that was over newer galvanized metal ,as old as yours maybe regular primer will be OK.never paint unprimed metal....It might look better to leave the galvanized parts clean and un painted.....As you can tell I am thinking as I write..... .
