I am trying my first tractor restoration, a 1949 Case VAC.

For the body work, I was reading online where someone used a rust inhibitor that bonds to the rust to stop it. I found one called Rust Kutter at my local tractor store.

So I am wondering when I apply that vs like using bondo on a few places that need patching.

Appreciate any tips on what order to do things.

So far have wire brushed the lose rust, paint off and applied the Rust Kutter. It says it can painted over directly.

if you have already applied the conversion primer, anywhere you are doing body work and applying filler, it needs to go on clean metal. rough up the area with 40- 80 grit paper, hammer and dolley the dents out, apply body filler, sand and feather. check the primer to see if has a window of time to topcoat. you may need to scotchbrite the surface to rough it up for the color coat.
