Phil is correct, not unless you want more gloss or buffing it for a single stage. Base coats need clear coat for UV protection and Gloss.

Mark - Nason is a product line, specifically, an economy product line of DuPont Performance Coatings. What we need to know is which product in the line you are using. Since you mention it is single stage, can I assume you mean you are using Ful-Thane? Or is it something else? I see about a dozen different topcoats listed so it would help to know which specific product you used.

If you sprayed a single stage urethane enamel, then there is no real benefit to clear coating it unless you want to cut and rub afterwards. The clear element of most single stage urethane enamels is approximately .5 mils thick while most two stage clears are close to 2 mils thick. Primary difference between the two is the "depth" of the UV protection package included in the two stage clear coat.
You can cut and rub a single stage urethane paint, just not a lot. If you are trying to achieve a perfectly flat finish then you need more than a half mil of dried film to work with.

Can you tell a difference with it or without it? Not if it was sprayed correctly.third party image

I have used nason paint and there really is no advantage to putting clear on it. Just put on 3 or 4 coats making the last one a little heavier to get a beautiful tough shine. I really like this paint and usually use it over an epoxy primer.

I have never tried it, but several times on this forum the consensus seems to be that there is little or no advantage.
