Im getting ready to shoot a front blade and a woods mower deck for the Super A. Is the 2 part Epoxy PPG primer still the way to go, I sure liked that stuff. Im going to shoot MTK on the blade and use International gray on the deck instead of the woods color. Will the I.h. paint do ok over the PPG primer?

In case you dont remember me, I was the one who started a big color comparison with I.H. red from PPG about a year or so back. We were taking pictures of different mixes and posting them on the board then. What projects have you guys been into lately? And CNKS, did you ever get all those pieces back together on your number series?

Thanks CNKS and Rod,

Glad to hear you 2 are still pulling along. Thats one mighty special looking garden cart there. CNKS, sometimes the manufactures put "shipping clips" under the back side of the arms of the pressure plate that need to be removed. Did you check that? If theres a inspection cover, you might be able to get at them through there if thats the case.

I sure would like to get these 2 project done before winter, time is just flying by though.

Thanks scott#2

I didn't see any clips, will look again, hope it's something simple like that, thanks.

We remember you! -- As to epoxy I don't think anything has changed. We had a house built, and my last experience with the 460 was in May, when I got it mostly back together. I put in a new clutch that only allows me to shift with the engine off, made some stupid mistake somewhere. Will get back to it when I get our property set up, yard, trees, finish shop etc. At this rate that is next year, which is not too far off, hope it isn't 2009.

Hi Scott,

Yes, I think the PPG epoxy is the way to go - either the economy OMNI MP or the premium DPLF, whichever one you are considering. While I generally prefer to avoid mixing and matching of products, the PPG epoxies are an exception. I don"t think you would have any problem at all using the IH topcoat over PPG epoxy. I apply Dupont Centari topcoat over PPG OMNI MP170 epoxy all the time.

Only painting project for me this year (so far) was a rebuild of my wife"s garden cart. Metal parts were sandblasted, primed with the 170 and topcoated with black Centari. I used Centari simply because I had the paint and other needed ingredients already on hand. Wooden parts were all new plywood and brush-painted with several coats of spar urethane from Minwax.
