For what its worth any of the 2k primers. sealers, single stage with hardners, clear coats, and base coats, etc, require a fresh air system for the same reasons as listed above. You will find that 98% of all body shops use a disposable respirator for all their painting. Im not saying you dont need a fresh air system. But what I am saying is they are required for libility reasons they have to say that. You are also told that you need to wear rubber gloves, and a full paint suit, and safty glasses. Dont forget these also. For what its worth spraying out side is much safer, but you may not get the best results with wind and dirt. How many people follow all these. Bottom line is a rag over the month is not going to be enough protect you.

For under a $1000 you can by a Sata fresh air hood that uses you compressed air from your compressor if you have enough CFM and filters the air and monitors it to be safe quailty. These are a good way to go. Please be sure to at the very min where a respirator. I still see guys not wearing one with primers, paint and clears.

Body shops with downdraft spray booths can get the isocyanate concentration below the danger level. Provided everything is working as it should a fresh charcoal mask is probably ok. Hobbiests cannot measure the concentration. Inside or outside a supplied air system should be used.

Get a big enough system. 20 years ago I was a good boy and bought a fresh air system. It couldn't keep up to my breathing and I was sucking pure overspray. It's been collecting dust ever since. Get a big pump.
