Do you all take tractors down to bare metal?
Or do you leave paint on amd paint over the old paint?

For me it depends on what I'm painting. If the original paint is still in good condition and I feel safe that the new paint will stick to it without it all peeling off I will paint over it. If the old paint is peeling or has some rust I will strip it. Often times I find it easier to strip it than to feather out rough places in the old paint. If you paint over the old paint you should use a good sealer over it to prevent any reactions between the paints.

Last summer whan I was ripping up a Ferguson TO-30, I was taking everything to pure metal with detergent, oven cleaner, hard work and sander's. I reprimed each piece with 8X coates of primer. Luck, Greaseman
