Ordered a gun from NAPA last Thrus, Told the guy My compressor puts out 6.2 @ 50PSI, told me to order a Sharpe 998 NON HVLP, so we ordered it and then Fri am I find out that the gun uses 11 CFM @ 50 psi. Can borrow a compressor but even that one only puts out 8.5 @ 50 psi. (5 or 6 hp w/ 35 gal tank) Only thing I can think of is Try to cancel the order???? or get another supply tank and hope for the best. Did see a Sharpe Model that is HVLP and only uses 7.5 @ 50 PSI. Any one have any thoughts? Painting is not my forte but don't want to buy the cheapest thing out there either. Really like all the advise you guys have given.

I think you will be very happy with the 7.5 cfm gun. I'm not trying to be rude but could I ask what you paid for it, I'm curious as to what they retail for?

Cliff: The one thing I did not like was when painting the underside, you have to do this when the gun is near full, and there are some spots I could not get to because of the can on the underside of the gun. Ordered a touch up gun Sat. to get to all the tight spots. keith

I would cancel the order. The HVLP gun that only uses 7.5 cfm is the Platinum which is a professional quality gun, I have one and love it, it will lay down paint like glass. You might want to check the prices at the link below, you won't be able to beat the prices and service.

The best thing to do is cancel the order and get a gun that matches your compressor. There are people on this board that know more than I do, and may have an answer for you. While you are waiting, there are also paint forums. Look for "ask Dr. Gun' on www.sharpe1.com (Sharpes web site). There is also a good forum on www.autobodystore.com. These boards have a wealth of knowledge on them -- there are others.
