I am looking for a 4 wheeled rollabout platform or dolly that I can put a small to medium tractor on for painting without the wheels on the tractor. I have to paint outside, but want to be able to roll the tractor back inside without the wheels on it afterwards so that I can assemble it. Any ideas if somebody makes something like this or am I going to have to have it built. I would like adjustable stands on it to fit under tractor frame and axles. 785-748-0061

Hank, if you're going to stay on a concrete floor... I bought a 2 TON Engine hoist at Northern Tool. That's enough to pick the whole tractor (JD B) up off the ground. Put Eye hooks in the axle and a hook in the frame and have at it.

Good luck

I have been thinking of using a wagon gear and frame to do this with. Would have to make some changes where you actually hook up to tractor, but it is an idea.

First time actualy replying to a post, I did all the paint work in our warehouse and used heavy duty 4 way pallets stacked underneath with shim boards to support and took the wheels off then had an entirely mobile setup with out the wheels. Would work great if you had a paved surface or concrete and had a pallet jack. Can pick up cheap pallet jacks from northern. Aslo handy for positioning heavy wheel tire combos for remounting even the biggest ones. Good luck

Funny you ask about that, I just made one for my B. If I knew how to post a picture of it I would, but I used 3" sqaure stock 3/16" and welded a big square with 4 very heavy duty casters. The I welded some vertical parts to attach to the back axle housing.

Hank; You might check out Northern Tool.com. They have dollies for autos. There are several different types. I bought four that I use under the lift arm assembly of my loader. As you, to move it around while making repairs and painting. Be sure to check the weigh capacity. Hope this helps...
