How does one go about getting surface rust and some minor pitting off of chrome??? Bought a truck and the bumper has a little rust issue...I took a fine wire brush and got the surface rust off but now there seems to be a little pitting... Is there anything i can do???

Do what the other guys said to remove the rust but then get you a can of rust converter from a parts store or WalMart and spray the chrome with it. That will kill the rust so it won't reoccur.

Good old S.O.S. pad that your mom used in the kitchen on the pots and pans will take that rust off. I use them on the wire spoke wheels on my 2 wheeler.

I've used steel wool to remove the rust.. but as the others said.. there is no chrome left int hat area.. so you must protect it.. or it will re-rust.

Realize that every spot where you see rust is a place where the chrome is gone. After cleaning, an occasionay coat of car wax will help a little to prevent re-rusting.

All you can do is use rubbing compound to remove the stain but the pits go through the chrome, nickle and copper right to the steel and there is nothing to cure it accept re-chroming. There is no "re-chrome in a can" to take care of this one. Just rub it off and keep it waxed.
