I have been using an upper end single stage Urethane with hardner on all of my restorations and have been very satisfied with the results. Now my supplier wants me to switch to a Polyurethane paint. From what I understand you add an activator then the hardner with no reducer. They say I will like the results from this material better that what I have been using. What is the opinion from someone that has experience with this product?

Poly is difficult to apply but years from now that will seem trivial. It's shinier and tougher for double the years.

One of the questions on this product would be, going back in a couple of days for repair work. Is there any drawbacks here compared to the single stage Urethane?

I can answer your question from experience but I need some brand specific names of these products that you have been useing and what they want you to use now.GENERALLY , what everybody refers to as "urethane" is actually acrylic urethane and comes in colors (single stage) and clear that can be used over single stage too but is designed for base coat systems. Then there is true "polyurethane" which is a lot more durable , slower drying and expensive. Same deal , it comes in colors and clears. As far as appearance goes , there is no difference. It cures harder and holds up to environmental hazzards better and that is why industry and trucking and heavy equipment people ask for it. It sprays more difficult and drys slower (dirt/runs)and usually has a little more orange peel to it. Unless you have some negative issues with what you are useing , stay with it and tell them to take a hike. Once we know what it actually is we can help you better.
