I got some front wheels for my model d with no tires and I wnat ot paint them beofre mounting itres on them. they have surface rust on the inner and outside, but otherwise solid. I now have oil based primer enamel and paint. I planned on wirebrushing them. Any one have any other ideas as to if this is the best way to handle the rust? thanks

Por 15 is crap i have used it many times all it really is is tar i have been painting wheel cars for about 15 years. The wheels you have put them in your car or truck get into your phone book and find a powder coating place. Powder coating is proven to be 18 times stronger then emron paint and 30 times stronger then poor 15 and they come out just like paint everytime. except you can drop them and not worrie about dropping them a powder coating place will charge you about 80 for to front wheel for a tractor and they can do themin any color you want trucst me it worth the money if you want them to last because they will media blast them before they coat them. I just did a tractor for a guy and i had 1/2 the tractor powder coated and you cant tell whats painted and whats powder coated. any questions fell free to e-mail me.

You could try Zero Rust link is below. A lot of the body shops are going to it instead of Por 15, they find it works better and is easier to use. Our local fertilizer company uses it in all of their dry fertilizer hoppers, they said it's the best they've found.

any body shop paint supplier can get it, or you can order it directly on the web here is the link. i recomend you get some of the por 15 thinner too. if you get it on you hands, it aint coming off. wear laytex disposable gloves when you use it.

poke here for por 15

for the inside of the wheels, por 15 is about the best product i have found. two coats with a brush, smooth as silk, and tough as nails. it is a rust converting type primer. if at all possible, have the wheels sandblasted first, use a good automotive epoxy primer on the exposed wheels, and por 15 the inside. por 15 is a little tricky for a topcoat, you need their adhesion promoter to put color over it. here is my cub wheel all done. ( chloride wont even eat thru por 15)
