What brand name and color number is closest to Persian Orange #1 (color used prior to 1960)?? I have used gray Krylon primer. I plan to buy a gallon size.

Any PPG dealer can mix up Persian Orange #1. Their number is DAR 60080. It's near exact of the original. But Krylon has an orange that is very near. I've got several rattle cans of it. Walmart can supply it. I think the number is 1809. If that is the wrong number, email me.

Has anyone used VanSickle paint. They have A.C.Persian Orange #1 (477 stock number). Were you satisfied with the color shade ? If you used the gallon size, could you brush it on ?? Thanks, AL

I have used Van Sickle and it sprays okay (suppose you could brush it on too, but why??), but it will turn a pnkish shape after a few years and get very chalky. It also has to be kept clean or mold seems to love it. I would honestly use PPG Shopline brand (the old Omni line) 60080 code. Sprays excellent, holds a very good gloss (with clearcoat of course), and will last a long time. Follow directions and you should have good results. Use a good resperator too.

I gave you the wrong number. The Krylon number is not 1809, but rather 1820, in the Farm and Implement line. Also in the Krylon line is an Industrial Rust Tough line that is a match for Allis Chalmers Persian Orange #1. That number is R00559. Krylon is good paint, made by Sherwin-Williams.

I have my father's 1955-56 CA which has all of the original paint, although badly weathered. I am about to replace the rims and want to paint them correctly. The front wheels are painted orange like the rest of the tractor and there seems to be a lot of information on that color. The rear (rims only) are painted a silver/light grey/aluminum color. I have not found any codes or information on the correct color for these rims. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim Woodlee
