I just bought a used fiberglass topper for my ford ranger. The paint is excellent, no chipping or scrapes. I am going to paint it white to match my ford ranger. My question is, do I need to prime before painting or just scuff the paint a bit and go with top coat only ? Will be using urethane auto paint.

Thank You
Ben

I'd probably go ahead and prime with light grey- it will give you a better color match. base coat color really does change top coat shade- especially white!

what color is the topper now? going with a primer might help you get better coverage/ paint match...

Clean and scuff, no primer needed. Scuff well by hardware, windows and hollows by trim. It'll first flake off there.
