I am putting an H back together and want to at least prime the parts before assembly. Working out of a garage in subdivision, no paint facilities. What is best option? Want to make it as easy as I can when I take it to paint shop.

I painted my MT in my garage in my subdivision, just put plastic up around all 4 walls and floor then painted her all up, waited until the next day and all the paint had settled and dried enough to take the plastic down. Next time I will put some cheap paneling down over the plastic on the floor to keep it from sticking to my shoes while painting the second coat.

I have used rattle can rustoleum with good results. There is a auto version which would allow you to sand it to get rid of any imperfections. According to the company it should be compatible with nearly all auto top coats.

Another option is to find out/decide which paint you will be using (dealership, Dupont, NAPA, etc) and get the primer that is recommended for that paint. It is often better to stay in product line for primers and top coats. Just remember some primers have to be top coated in a certain amount of time, which might be a problem if you paint and then reassemble them.
