Trying to get some feedback.The other day I was using paint stripper and sandblasting my old H.I found the the 3 wide bars on the grill was white at one time.Also the rib on the side&seam around the gas tank.Could that have come from the factory that way?Looked as if was several coats down.I have the old manual that came with the tractor,the 1st picture of the H in the book has the white striped grill.Was curious to see if anyone has ever seen or heard of that. Thanks;

all of the early literture for h's and m's show the three silver stripes on the grill. just like the crawler tractors that ih was building at the time. john mcnaul an old ih dealer from ashland ohio says that the first few were painted with the stripes. he was there he should know.

ramtuff: Sounds to me as though some of you Americans tried to do some art work and make it look like Old Glory drapped across front of the H. Do a bit more checking, bet you'll find the stars on one side. Seriously, I'm not joking, I've seen this done, looks quite sharp.

I have heard of it, but have not seen any proof. Some of the pre-production literature showed that, your manual could be included in that group as they could be printed before the tractors were built. My opinion is that none were produced. I have not heard of the white rib. Go to the Farmall forum and ask for Guy Fay, he is the expert.
