Clear over single stage paint will not noticeably improve the gloss. It will give some uv protection and slow fading. You can use the automotive base-clear system for a little more money and get better results. I am not in favor of putting expensive clear over cheap paint, but you can do as you please. People have done it, though.

It will be an experiment at best , since JD paint in synthetic enamel and to my knowlege there is no such clear in this chemistry. To apply any other chemistry clear coat would be risking "lifting" , "wrinkling" or "delaminating" all of which would require a complete re-do. You started out with an "economy" system. You can't change now and decide you want better. Live and learn.

I do so on a regular basis with very good results. As with most painting you better know what you are doing. Many skilled people will share some of their knowledge to help the novice but clear over Deere OEM paint is just like telling a novice how to weld cast iron engine parts on this board.

I have used clear coat, mixed in with Deere Paint, with excelent results. I have never tried painting clear coat over the top of Deere paint. I was told that it can be pretty tricky. Uneven, spotty. I was told beter job mixing the 2 together.
Bruce.

Before you go to gungho, get a smallest amount you can buy. Paint a small pice of metal with clearcoat mixed, and paint a small piece of metal without clearcoat mixed, to make very sure, that is what you wan't. If it isn't what you want, you are not out all the money, and won't be out all the work to redue again. My opinion any way.
Bruce.
