I need to be up dated on the new methods and materials to put a super slick paint job on my "M"....I repaired and painted cars some 25 years ago...I have done some small jobs since (lawn tractors)but I want a first class job on this tractor...Years ago I used "metal prep" on bare metal....lacquer primer and DuPont, Acrylic enamel with a little "fish eye" in it....This tractor is as goog as they come for 51 years old...never been repainted and kept inside.....OK take me through the steps ..and tell me about the material to use and how much I should buy..the tractor has finders and a flat "ROOF"....(cab with any sides)....

Check the link below for pictures I took while painting our 706. I used PPG Omni line paints which I feel are a great product for the money, I think all the painting materials cost about $450 including 2 gallons of red. I used an epoxy primer for a sealer over the old paint and shot Omni MTK single stage urethane over it. On the sheet metal I used a urethane primer surfacers over the epoxy primer for a little "fill" so I could get it perfectly smooth. Half a gallon of primer and a gallon of red (will reduce to 7 quarts) would be plenty for an M.
