I bought paint at Farm & Fleet, and on the back it says not to thin. So how much reducer should I put in the paint to thin it correctly? I am also using hardener. Thanks.

I'm not a pro and don't really have alot of experience with this....my father-in-law however, has painted all his life. His advise is this: To much thinner and the paint will run. To little thinner and the gun won't pull the paint out of the cup. Spray until the paint has a slight orange peel as he says the paint will run out fine. If the paint starts to get really glossy, it will soon start to run. My guess would be start with about 20% thinner. I posted several weeks ago about hardner. I had the same question, and added different amounts while painting my tractor. I bought the NAPA hardner for acrylic enamel for around 17.00 a pint. Looks like to me that 20% or about the same amount as the thinner is a good place to start. I've mixed close to about 40% hardner, 40%paint, and 20% thinner, and it was hard to keep the gun picking up the paint. 33% hardner seemed to work ok. One thing for sure, add hardner. This comes from very limited experience and is just my observation. Hope you enjoy your project as much as I have.....Bill in TN
