Couple of Paint Questions

First, I have read several posts here telling me that TSC paints, JD paints, etc. are not too good. Automotive paints (PPG, Dupont, etc) are recommended. What type of paint do most use on these tractors? Acrylic Enamel? Base/clear? Urethane?
Second, what are you using to refinish items that were originally cadmium plated (gas tanks, fittings, rims, etc.)?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

about your paint questions, yes the paint brands you mentioned (ppg, dupontetc) are the better choice,as far as paint types it depends what you are trying to achieve restoration wise.those tractors never came out of the factory with a base coat c/c shine but if that doesnt matter to you and you want to be the shinyest in the show then i would go with either a urethane or bc/cc.bc/cc is much more labour as far as the spraying, you really painting the tractor twice eg:3coats of color and 2-3 coats of clear.also the cost of paint will be more than a urethane.my choice would be urethane like ppg's paint CONCEPT. cam
