I just finished painting a Wheelhorse 42" mower deck with Rustoleum Industrial spray paint. The fuel line ripped & poured gasoline all over the deck while I was mowing the other evening. The clear lacquer that I had used as a final coat...lifted, wrinkled & now has dirt & grass clippings embedded in it. Can I sand down the damaged areas & re-paint?...or do I have to strip it all down to metal again?

Mike, I'm surprised it didn't wrinkle when you sprayed the lacquer over the enamel. Lacquer should never be put over enamel. ~Depending on how deep the damage is you might be better off to just strip it & start over.....

I mis-spoke...I sprayed "Crystal Clear ENAMEL" over the Rustoleum industrial red "enamel". Sorry for the confusion there. In any case, it looks like I will be re-doing the deck this winter when the mower is down for engine re-build.
