I am restoring a tractor and I am wondering if I should sandblast the frame or what? What would be the best way to get all the old paint off, to make it look like a professional restoration. Thanks.

I'm no expert, but I'll tell you what I'm doing to mine. Removed everything--starter, generator, hydraulics, distributer, etc. Stripped to bare metal using a combination of oven cleaner, pressure washer, paint stripper, and various wire brushes on a 3/8 drill. Going to purchase a sand blaster next time. Keep the sand away from seals and bearings. Sand gets into everything, but is useful for both large areas and small parts. Clean everything with wax and grease remover. Be sure to treat the bare metal with a rust converter. Prime cast with epoxy primer and paint with urethane paint. Same with sheet metal, but will probably use primer surfacer instead of epoxy (epoxy is hard to sand) Since not many people read this board, post your question on the board for your make of tractor for other ideas.
